Man Gets Death Sentence Over 2007 Osogbo Bombing

A High Court sitting in Osun State has sentenced a man, Richard Adesanmi to death for a 2007 explosion at the Osun State Government Secretariat which resulted in the death of one individual.

Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe who passed the judgement found Adesanmi guilty on one count of conspiracy to effect an unlawful purpose, one count of attempting to injure with explosives, one count of preparing to commit crime with explosives, two counts of an act intended to cause grievous harm and one count of murder.

The judge sentenced Adesanmi to 40 years imprisonment for counts one to five, while count six carried the death sentence.

Materials recovered from the scene and used as evidence included 900 grams tin, pliers, yards of dyna cord, nine volt batteries, jack knife and exploders.

Justice Aderibigbe said: “The accused person, Richard Adesanmi, is sentenced to death for murder by hanging on his neck till he gives up the ghost. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”
