BENIN CITY, Nigeria — A video has surfaced online showing a man from Benin claiming to be the biological father of Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid.
The clip, recorded in a church, has gone viral across social media platforms, prompting a wave of speculation and amusement from fans.
In the video, the unidentified man is seen standing before a congregation, speaking in response to a prophecy delivered by a clergy member.
The preacher told the man that he saw the name “Wizkid” in the spiritual realm and declared that he had a billionaire son.
He advised the man to “wait” before speaking.
Without hesitation, the man responded, “Wizkid is my son.”
He claimed that Wizkid’s late mother was married to a man named Balogun but insisted that he—rather than Balogun—is the singer’s real father.
He mentioned that Wizkid’s birthday falls in July and described him as a “friend of Davido,” referring to Wizkid’s often-publicised musical rivalry with fellow Afrobeats star Davido.
“Wizkid is my son… he is a billionaire,” the man repeated, while the congregation erupted in shock, many shouting “Jesus!” and clapping in disbelief.
The video has generated a storm of reactions online, with fans expressing a mix of scepticism, curiosity, and amusement.
Some users dismissed the claim as a publicity stunt, while others joked about the increasing number of people allegedly related to celebrities.
As of now, neither Wizkid nor his representatives have commented publicly on the video.
There is no known evidence to substantiate the man’s claim.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on July 16, 1990, has publicly spoken about his close relationship with his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in 2023.
He has not made mention of any paternity dispute in the past.
The singer, who is known for keeping his personal life relatively private, has remained off the radar amid the recent online speculation.
