A man who tried to slap an animal out of his way, was stung with 400 porcupine needles, according to photos uploaded to the Internet.

50-year-old Antonio Rodrigues Mororo of Brazil, sprung into action during a house party after one of his sons complained to him that his pregnant wife was afraid to enter because the animal sat next to the entrance.

Mororo of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, went to slap the animal and got stung four hundred times. It turned out the animal was a porcupine.

Despite going to a local hospital, where he received three anesthesia shots, his pain continued. Mororo was forced to get a tetanus shot and take antibiotics.

He is currently recovering with a hand full of holes. This was not the first time that a porcupine stung a person.

In January, a woman was rushed to a hospital after she was jumped by a porcupine, according to hospital officials in Brazil. The Brazilian woman has described her agony after suffering the bizarre incident when a porcupine fell on her head as she walked her dog.

Nabucco Sandra, 52, was left with about 200 spikes embedded into her scalp after the unfortunate mishap in Rio de Janeiro, on Monday. The homemaker was taken to a local hospital by neighbors where each spike was removed individually without anesthesia.

“I was caught by surprise,” the woman said. “I felt something land on my head and then I felt the thorns with my hands. The pain was enormous. The surgeon took them out with tweezers. We stopped counting when we got to 150, but it must have been around 200,” the woman recalled.

Nabucco saw the funny side of her injuries, saying that her strength helped her get through the painful incident. “I am a strong woman, an elderly person or a child would have died,” she said.

According to an initial investigation, the porcupine fell from a lamppost onto her head.
