Mohamed Salah Named 2024/25 Premier League Player of the Season After Record-Breaking Campaign

LONDON, England — Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the 2024/25 Premier League Player of the Season, breaking a five-year streak of Manchester City dominance in the individual honour.

Salah emerged the winner from a shortlist of eight players, beating out fellow nominees Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Morgan Gibbs-White, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, Declan Rice, and Chris Wood.

This marks Salah’s second time claiming the prestigious award, having first won it in 2018.

He now joins an elite group of players — Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne — as the only individuals to win the award more than once.

The Egyptian international was instrumental in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists as the Reds clinched their 30th English top-flight championship.

His total of 46 goal contributions set a new record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season.

Salah also made history during the campaign by surpassing Sergio Agüero to become the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history.

His accolades this season extend beyond the league.

Earlier in May, Salah was named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Men’s Footballer of the Year — his third time receiving the honour.

Only Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has matched that feat.

The 2024/25 season further solidifies Salah’s legacy as one of the Premier League’s most impactful and consistent performers.
