NEMA Donates Drugs To Victims Of Gombe Bomb Blast

NAN- The National Emergency Management Agency has donated drugs to the victims of the recent bomb blast at the Dukku Motor Park, Gombe, Gombe State.

Presenting the drugs on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan, the Minister of Transport, Alhaji Umar Idris, described the incident as unfortunate.

According to him, the president had directed that immediate steps be taken to assist the victims.

Also speaking, the Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Sani Sidi, said the donation was part of Federal Government’s efforts to assist victims of the disaster.

He called on the management of the hospital to utilise the drugs and equipment judiciously.

Dr Reuben Ardo, the Chief Medical Director, Gombe Specialist Hospital, said 37 casualties were brought to the hospital out of which 26 were taken to the theater for various surgery and discharged thereafter.

Ardo said the remaining victims were also treated and discharged, adding that only one patient was currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

He also said that 21 dead bodies were brought to the hospital and deposited in the mortuary.
