New Craze Of ‘Sellotape Selfies’ As People Wrap Their Faces With Clear Tape For Grotesque Photos [LOOK]

Thousands of people have been wrapping clear tape around their face to achieve grotesque looks

They then upload their amazing pictures on Facebook and nominate a friend to take part in the embarrassing challenge.

The craze went viral with more than 50,000 people ‘liking’ the Sellotape Selfie page in the first 24 hours after the launch on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 by Brighton University student Lizzie Durley, 21, who said: “I got the idea from Jim Carrey’s office scene in ‘Yes Man’.

” I was having a bad day and remembered that scene from the film which really tickled me and i figured people were getting bored of the whole ‘selfie’ craze, I know I was, so I just applied the concepts of the selfie and the nomination to this idea and bosh, Sellotape selfies.

“I launched it to my friends and they shared it and it went from there, it just grew so quickly.

“The concept is applicable to literally anyone, everyone can join in, there’s no risk of offence, and people just love to have a giggle.

“My goal for the end of the first day was 3,000 followers and I thought that was adventurous but five hours later it was on about 18,000 and by the evening, at which point we couldn’t really believe how popular it was, it was at 50,000.last night (Weds) I couldn’t move from my laptop because the page was just going crazy and I had to keep up with it all,”she said

“I am receiving multiple entries by the second and it is a task to keep up with. It is all very overwhelming.”
