Nigerian Defence Minister Says Conspiracy Failed as He Credits Rise to ‘Divine Intervention’

ABUJA, Nigeria — Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), has said that his elevation to national office came despite opposition from people he described as conspirators, adding that he believes his progress resulted from divine assistance.

Musa spoke on Sunday, December 28, 2025, while giving a testimony during a service at the Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja.

The minister said he faced resistance from unnamed individuals but maintained that their efforts did not prevent his advancement.

He told the congregation that faith played a decisive role, saying God “lifted him” at a time he felt the odds were against him.

Musa urged worshippers not to lose confidence in difficult moments and emphasised reliance on faith.

He said, “because we serve a living God. He will never give up on us.”

“We give God the glory for what has happened this year. Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up,” Musa said.

“In their small mind, they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar, you will win,” he added.

He further told the congregation that adversity could be a catalyst for development.

“If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life. As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty,” he said.

Musa concluded by calling for prayers for national leadership and unity, stating, “Nigerians are winners. We must continue to pray for our leaders and our country.”

The comments did not identify those he said had opposed him or specify when the alleged conspiracy took place.
