Onoja Plans To Unseat Senate President David Mark Come 2015

Must read

Mike Onoja, a former permanent secretary in the ministry of defence on Saturday, October 25, 2014 made public his intention to contest against incumbent Senate President, David Mark in next year’s general election, Punch reports.

Onoja, who had in 2007 unsuccessfully contested against then governor Gabriel Suswan in Benue says he plans to unseat the number 3 citizen as the senator representing Benue South senatorial district (zone C) on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP had earlier announced that there was no vacancy in zone C, a declaration apparently ignored by Onoja

Speaking to a gathering of his supporters in Oturkpo, Onoja stressed that it was “unacceptable and undemocratic” for one individual to be there since 1999 as he would have a negligible relationship with the masses.

Onoja said: “Deceiving our people is unacceptable and with your support we can stop that through the ballots. The zone C senate seat is not a birthright neither it is a traditional stool that one man will lay claims to.

“In the same vein we most change the baton else it is breeding dictatorship, feudalism which end product is backwardness.”

Onoja used the opportunity to inaugurate a a committee to mobilise support from the grassroots
