Party Defection: PDP Ask Tambuwal To Resign Honourably

Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, who became Speaker of the House of Representative on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 declared his defection to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC.

The PDP executive under whose umbrella he became the speaker are now demanding that he resigns from the office.

In a statement released on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 the party asked Tambuwal to do face the consequence of his defection and humbly resign.

“After a thorough consideration of the matter, the NWC (National Working Committee) came to a conclusion that the Hon. Speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows full well what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority.

“We are not unmindful of the fact that Hon. Tambuwal became Speaker on the platform of the PDP as the political party with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives and that this incontrovertible fact has not changed”, the PDP said.

Honorable Aminu Tambuwal had on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 defected from PDP to APC to contest at gubernetorial level in Sokoto State.
