BAGUDO, Nigeria — The Kebbi State Police Command said security agencies had stabilised the situation after a loud explosion occurred at the General Hospital in Bagudo in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman, the command said a combined team of security personnel moved quickly to the scene and secured the area.
The response included officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and local vigilante groups, who cordoned off the affected location shortly after the incident.
Specialist teams from Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) units were also deployed to conduct a technical assessment of the site.
According to the police, there were no reported injuries or deaths.
A building within the hospital’s staff quarters was damaged, but occupants had left the premises before the explosion, the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police ordered additional tactical deployments to the area to help maintain public order and protect residents while inquiries continue.
The command said an investigation had been opened to identify the source and nature of the blast.
Residents were urged to remain calm and to keep away from the immediate vicinity of the hospital while security and emergency personnel continued their work.
