First son of the late Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first President – Chukwuma Bamidele Azikiwe – has reportedly passed on, Punch reports.
According to a family source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Chukwuma died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Bromeo Hospital at the age of 75, after struggling with a protracted respiratoty related ailment for a number of years.Chukwuma, who had unsuccessfully contested to be governor of the old Anambra State at the end of his diplomatic career held the traditional position of Owelle Onitsha, a title which ranked him 6th in the traditional hierarchy in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Details about his funeral arrangements would be announced later according to Onitsha customs and tradition.
