
Reverend Samson Ayokunle has emerged as the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN while Professor Joseph Otubu is the new vice president of the umbrella body for Christians in Nigeria.
Ayokunle is the president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and he was the candidate of the Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN. Otubu emerged as the runner up in the CAN elections which held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
Otubu is of the Motalilatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, MCCSW and got 28 votes while Ayokunle obtained 57 votes.
Outgoing president of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor announced the results of the election at about 2.30pm.
The tenure for CAN leaders is three years. Oritsejafor is completing a two year tenure. He was first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2013.
