The Senate President David Mark’s convoy was attacked by gunmen in Orlu, Imo state on Thursday, March 20, 2014 where he went to attend the burial ceremony of business mogul Sir. John Richard Anyaechie.

Mark just just returned from the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Switzerland and headed to Nkwere, the venue of the funeral, when he was attacked by hoodlums.

According to Mark’s Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh,, the gunmen specifically targeted the vehicle of the Senate President but luckily he was not in it.

Nobody was hurt in the attack.

The Senate President speaking in the funeral lamented the incident, saying such act was not expected in a notable senatorial zone like Orlu, moreso, at the time that a great philanthropist like Anyaehie was being buried.
