ABUJA, Nigeria — The family residence of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, was attacked on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State — marking the second such incident in two months.

According to a statement released by her media office on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, armed assailants vandalised multiple windows at the residence before being repelled by a joint response from local police officers, community vigilantes, and concerned youths.

One suspect was arrested at the scene.

The suspect, identified as Suberu Jose — a native of the community — reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that it was his third time participating in attacks on the Akpoti-Uduaghan family compound.

A cutlass and several charms were recovered from him.

Witnesses said an angry mob attempted to lynch the suspect before he was rescued and handed over to police authorities.

Other suspects, allegedly armed with dangerous weapons, fled the scene and remain at large.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the attack in a phone interview with this publication.

“It’s true that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Ihima was attacked yesterday (Tuesday),” he said.

He confirmed the arrest of one suspect and added that the individual was providing “useful information” to investigators.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspects who escaped,” Aya added.

This latest assault follows a previous attack on the same property on 15 April 2025, which resulted in no arrests.

The incident marks the first major breakthrough in what the Senator’s media office described as a “coordinated pattern of violence.”

The renewed attack comes at a time of heightened political tension surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was recently suspended from the Senate for six months following her public allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The Federal Government has since filed two separate criminal charges against her.

In its statement, the Senator’s media office condemned the attack and called for public vigilance.

“We call on the public to remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of justice. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation,” the statement said.
