NAN- A Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court on Friday slammed a N20, 000 bail on a labourer, Francis Ama, allegedly caught napping at a public garden in Abuja.

Ama, 25, whose address is unknown, is being tried for criminal intimidation.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Monday Akor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 6 at Millennium Park, Central Business District, Abuja.

According to him, an official, Ahmed Shaibu (complainant), reported the case on behalf of his boss at New Karu Police Station.

“The complainant said the accused turned their garden located at Millennium Park into sleeping place.

“The security guard on duty tried to stop him from sleeping there,’’ Akor said.

He said the accused in a bid to resist being ejected from the place threatened to deal with the security guard and his boss.

Akor said the offence contravened the provision of Section 397 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded innocence of the offence.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Chinyere Nwacheonwu, admitted the accused to a bail of N20, 000 in addition to a surety in like sum.

She said the surety, who should swear to an affidavit of means, must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

Nwacheonwu adjourned the case to June 23 for further hearing.
