Joshua 9:14 NKJV “Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord .”
One thing I think a lot of us are guilty of is disregarding the Lord. Yes, we are Christians, we go to church, read our Bibles and pray, but in times of decision making, we do what our “informed and learned” minds think is right.
For some of us, our friends, our partners, parents and colleagues are our counsellors and guides; we seek the opinions of everyone else but God, remembering Him only when there are issues and things are not working as well as we desire. Understand that true wisdom is seeking the counsel of the all-knowing God! He knows the end from the beginning, and He also knows the deepest secrets of the hearts of men.
What many of us seem to lack is the discipline to pray. But just a few minutes seeking His will can save us from a lot of pain, stress and regret later on in life. Yes, I know he’s good looking, rich, educated, caring and even Godfearing; I sincerely agree with you that it’s a great offer, and I know you stand to gain a lot by accepting it; but just before you say yes, it’s wise to ask God for what step to take. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
