Nigeria’s male national football team, the super eagles got a not-too-rousing welcome at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja on Sunday, October 12, 2014 on arrival from Sudan, according to a report by Vanguard.
The Eagles had put on a disappointing display in Khartoum where they were beaten 1-0 by their Sudanese counterparts on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in a 2015 African Cup Of nations (AFCON) qualifier.
On arrival at the airport at about 9 am, the Stephen Keshi-led team was booed by aggrieved fans as security officials had a hard time controlling the angry crowd.
Nigeria now sit bottom of group A with just one point, two points less than third placed Sudan and some way off the top two teams in the group; South Africa (7 points) and Congo (6 points)
Nigeria’s next match will be against Sudan on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
