NASHVILLE, USA — Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce are officially engaged, capping a nearly two-year relationship that has captured global attention.
The couple announced the news on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with simultaneous Instagram posts, sharing five photographs in a floral setting, including a close-up of Swift’s engagement ring — a cushion-cut diamond set on a gold band — and an image of Kelce proposing on one knee.
The caption read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Proposal in Missouri
Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, confirmed to WEWS that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed nearly two weeks ago at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
“They were about to go out to dinner and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine’ … they got out there and that’s when he asked her and it was beautiful,” Ed Kelce said.
He added that the couple immediately FaceTimed both families to share the news.
From Friendship Bracelet to Engagement
Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, and Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, began dating in September 2023 after Swift attended a Chiefs game.
Their story began when Kelce admitted on his “New Heights” podcast that he had tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number during her Eras Tour.
Swift later called the gesture “metal as hell” in a Time magazine interview.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift revealed last year.
The relationship soon became public, marked by her appearances at Chiefs games and Kelce’s on-field kiss with her after his team’s 2024 Super Bowl victory.
A High-Profile Romance
The pair have largely kept their relationship off social media, though they shared glimpses — including photos with Prince William and his children at a London concert, and summer snapshots posted by Kelce during his off-season.
In recent months, the couple have spoken more openly about their bond. On a recent New Heights episode, Kelce credited Swift’s tour energy for drawing him closer: “I had never been so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.”
Swift responded with an audible “aww,” later describing Kelce’s loyalty to friends as the “green flag” that stood out early in their relationship.
The Ring
Jeweller Laura Taylor of Lorel Diamonds described Swift’s engagement ring as a vintage-inspired piece featuring what appears to be a 10- to 12-carat old mine-cut diamond in yellow gold.
The engagement marks the latest milestone in a relationship often compared to a romantic comedy — one that has played out across football fields, concert stages, and now, a public promise of marriage.
