ENUGU, Nigeria — Passengers aboard an Enugu Air flight experienced a frightening moment on Thursday, November 20, 2025, when the aircraft suffered a nose-landing gear malfunction while arriving at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the incident occurred at approximately 19:10 hours as the aircraft, with registration number SN-BZN, landed on Runway 08 and became immobile shortly afterward.

FAAN spokesperson Henry Agbebire, director of public affairs and consumer protection, said emergency response crews were immediately activated.

“FAAN’s airport emergency resources, including fire tenders and medical standby, were deployed as standard procedure,” he said.

Agbebire said all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft using Apron buses.

“Evacuation was completed without injury and concluded at 19:48 hrs,” the statement read.

The cause of the nose-gear fault was not immediately disclosed, and aviation authorities have yet to confirm whether an investigation has been opened.

The aircraft remained on the runway for several hours before being removed.

Thursday’s incident comes less than four months after Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, inaugurated Enugu Air — the state-owned carrier — and announced that regional flight operations would commence soon.

Airport authorities said the safety of passengers was their priority and that standard emergency procedures had been fully followed.

No disruptions to subsequent flight operations were reported.
