U.S. Revokes Visas of Foreign Nationals Who Celebrated Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Must read

WASHINGTON, USA — The United States has revoked the visas of several foreign nationals who publicly celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the State Department announced on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Kirk, 31, a close ally of President Donald Trump and co-founder of the youth advocacy group Turning Point USA, was shot dead last month during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The bullet struck his neck as he responded to a student’s question about mass shootings in America.

His killing sparked widespread condemnation of political violence across the country, while also prompting divisive reactions globally.

In a post on X late Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the U.S. State Department said it was taking firm action against foreign nationals who “wish death on Americans.”

“The State Department continues to identify visa holders who celebrated the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk,” the agency said.

“We have no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans.”

The post was accompanied by screenshots of comments from six social media accounts belonging to individuals in South Africa, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Paraguay.

One of the flagged posts, attributed to a South African national, read: “Americans are hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom,” adding that Kirk “was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash.”

The department said all six individuals’ U.S. visas had been revoked.

The announcement coincided with President Trump’s posthumous award of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk on Tuesday, honouring what he described as the late activist’s “unwavering commitment to free speech and patriotism.”

The move also follows the Biden administration’s tightening of visa requirements for foreign nationals.

In August, the U.S. mission in Nigeria introduced a new policy requiring all non-immigrant visa applicants to submit social media account details used over the past five years.

The measure is intended to strengthen vetting processes and monitor online behaviour that may indicate security risks.
