ABUJA, Nigeria – Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has on Monday, April 21, 2025, responded to Tunde Bakare’s recent critique of the administration, describing the cleric’s comments as “quite objective.”
In his state of the nation broadcast on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Tunde Bakare, the overseer of The Citadel Global Community Church, voiced concerns about the current state of Nigeria under Tinubu’s leadership.
Bakare urged the president to listen to advice and “stop playing God,” emphasizing the need for a “coordinated programme” to address Nigeria’s deepening crises.
He also called out what he described as the descent into “tyranny” and the abuse of power by the government, particularly amid rising insecurity in states such as Plateau and Benue.
Bakare’s sermon came as the country grapples with a spike in killings and abductions, which has led to widespread public concern.
The cleric urged the president to confront Nigeria’s challenges with humility and address the growing discontent within the country.
In his response, Bwala acknowledged Bakare’s “general opinion” on the administration, noting that the cleric had both praised and criticized the government’s decisions.
He emphasized that while Bakare raised valid concerns and offered suggestions for improvement, he also recognized the president’s achievements and the progress made by the administration.
Bwala further stated, “Although we differ with him in some areas and positions, we respect his right to express his views, and we assure him, as with many Nigerians, that President Tinubu remains committed to fulfilling his promise to the Nigerian people.”
