AGBADO, Nigeria — A 32-year-old woman, Modinat Saka, has been arrested by police in Ogun State for allegedly stabbing her tenant, Ganiu Abdullahi, to death during a violent altercation at their residence in the Agbado area.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m., following what was initially described as a minor disagreement between the landlady and her 40-year-old tenant.
According to police sources, the quarrel quickly escalated into a physical confrontation inside the victim’s room.
Witnesses told investigators that the dispute intensified when Abdullahi reportedly began hurling verbal insults at Saka.
During the ensuing struggle, he allegedly stabbed her in the hand with a piece of broken glass.
In retaliation, Saka was said to have picked up a broken bottle and stabbed Abdullahi in the chest.
He succumbed to the injury shortly after the attack.
Responding detectives arrived at the scene to recover evidence and document the crime.
Photographs of the location and the deceased were taken before his body was removed and deposited at the Life Channel Morgue along Olambe Alausa Road for autopsy.
Police officials confirmed that Saka is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Abeokuta for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command has yet to release an official statement, but sources say homicide detectives will determine whether the stabbing was in self-defence or a criminal act of retaliation.
The incident adds to growing concerns over rising cases of domestic violence and fatal disputes in residential communities across the state.
