The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo to reinstate the campaign billboard belonging to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Anambra Central Senatorial Candidate Senator Victor Umeh.
Daily Post reports that the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency had last week, dismantled the campaign billboard of Peter Obi.
The large billboard situated at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University temporary site flyover was pulled down on Saturday over the alleged failure of the party to meet requirements.
Recall that in August 2022, the Anambra State Government directed that all presidential, senatorial, and House of Representative candidates will pay the sum of N10 million, N7 million, and N5 million respectively while candidates of the State House of Assembly will pay N1 million to mount billboards in any part of the state.
Following the removal on Saturday, the coalition of Igbo youths condemned the action of the governor, stating that if the billboard is not restored, the governor would face the consequences.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 19, 2023, by its President General, Goodkuck Ibem, the coalition said: “The illegal action by Governor Charles Soludo to remove campaign billboards of these noble candidates because they are not in his political party is unconstitutional and undemocratic, to say the least.
“We are aware that why Governor Soludo is after Mr Peter Obi and Senator Victor Umeh is because these two personalities represent integrity, sincerity, and transparency which is in variant to what Soludo believes in.
“We give Governor Soludo 48 hours to replace those billboards of Mr Peter Obi and Senator Victor Umeh which he illegally removed or face the wrath of the youths.”
Governor Soludo Promises To End Monday Sit-At-Home Order In Anambra Next Year
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has vowed to end the Monday sit-at-home declared in the state by Finland-based Biafra activist, Simon Ekpa, in 2023.
Soludo lamented that the state can no longer afford to lose its public life, hence the need to end the sit-at-home.
The governor said the sit-at-home was becoming a part of their life in the state.
Soludo made the pronouncement during the 2022 Public Servants Day in the state.
“Last week, one madman living in Finland said he was declaring sit-at-home, it was only in Anambra that it was not observed. By the time you return next year, we shall stop sit-at-home.
“We must get back to work, working five days a week, we must take back Anambra from the criminals, we can not build a prosperous Anambra when we work four days, when our children go to school four days, that is a 20 percent loss in productivity,” he said.
The sit-at-home was initially ordered in the Southeast by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, aimed to restore the Republic of Biafra.

Sources in the Anambra State Government have revealed that the state’s Governor Chukwuma Soludo, may have deceived the traditional leaders in the southeastern state into attending a welcome meeting for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The visit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to Anambra State took place on Thursday, December 15, 2022, the day he held his campaign in the state.
According to the source, based on the memo they got, Governor Soludo deceived Anambra State traditional rulers into believing they were coming for an end-of-the-year meeting at the Government House in Awka, the state capital.

The monarchs, however, were surprised to learn they were assembled because of the visit of the PDP presidential candidate.
They would later be honoured with a N300,000.00 parting gift for a ‘job well done’.
Soludo also deceived Alhaji Abubakar who was made to believe that all the people he met at the Government House were there to welcome him.
Speaking after the visit, Atiku had said: “I did not expect to see so much crown during my visit to Anambra State.
The truth was revealed when the state residents attacked one of the foremost paramount rulers in the state, the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, for abandoning his royal palace to go to receive Atiku.
One aggrieved resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told an online news platform, “Obi of Onitsha just disgraced Onitsha Kingdom and Igbo people.
“Will Oba of Benin leave his royal palace to go receive any politician?” he asked contemptuously.
Reacting to the allegation, the source blew the lid, explaining that the traditional rulers never knew that the meeting involved the visit of Atiku.
He added why any traditional ruler will take side with Atiku “when a son of the soil, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi, is also contesting the election”.
It appears that all is not well with the Anambra PDP Campaign Council as Senator Stella Odua, representing Anambra North at the National Assembly, and another PDP chieftain in the state, Chief Chris Ubah, the senatorial candidate of Anambra South, boycotted the Thursday rally.
Atiku, since his emergence, has been fighting on several fronts with party members who considered his ticket as a violation of party principles.
Foremost amongst them are the G-5 Governors who vowed to ensure that he does not win the presidential election.
The G-5 Governors include Mr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Mr. Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and Mr. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
