No Evidence Of Manipulation In Nigeria’s Election – EU Says

Must read

The European Union, EU, has said that there was no evidence of systematic manipulation of the electoral process by the stakeholders.

The Nigerian presidential elections held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 across the nation and spilled over to Sunday in some polling units.

The EU Election Observation Mission in Nigeria made the submission in its preliminary findings in Abuja on Monday, March 30, 2015.

The EU “commends the Nigerian people for its commitment to overall peaceful elections this weekend, despite challenges and frustations,” Santiago Fisas, head of the mission, told reporters in Abuja, the capital. Polling staff were resourceful and tried to act with integrity and transparency, he said.

While the commission noted violence in Rivers state, this shouldn’t place the overall integrity of the election in doubt, he said.
