We Sealed Off SCOAN Building Before Collpase -Building Control Agency Reveals

Mrs. Abimbola Animashaun-Odunayo, the general manager of the Laogos State Building Control Agency (LSBCA) has disclosed that the section of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) which collapsed recently was cordoned off by the agency days before it collapsed over safety concerns, but their warnings were ignored and construction on the property continued, according to Vanguard.

In the aftermath of the warnings, the guest house collapsed with over a hundred fatalities.

A member of the church Ihechukwu Njoku however availed that the building was a only two floors earlier on, but that the church had sought approval from the government to add more floors to the two existing ones, but could not ascertain if the approval was granted.

However Animashaun-Odumayo said the building was only approved to be a three-storey building. She further stated that the building was sealed off a few days before the collapse, but construction continued to go on on the property.

When asked of a probable punishment to be meted out if the church is fpund responsible, she said the onus falls on the table of the government as to which decision will be made pending the result of ongoing tests.
