Over 10 Feared Dead As Boko Haram Invades Gombe

No fewer than 10 people were feared dead on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 when unknown assailants suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram Islamists sect stormed the headquarters of Nafada local government area of Gombe State.

According to reports, an eyewitness said the invaders stormed the town with about 50 motorbikes at about noon.

The source revealed that the assailants had made their way into the state from Yobe State through Gombe – Potiskum road and shot sporadically on some unsuspecting Nigerian troops at the check-point in the town’s gateway and went further to one Sheikh Adamu Misira’s house, murdered him and 10 others during the attack.

“In Nafada, they went straight to the police station and opened fire on it. From there, they went to the Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat and the local government secretariat and opened fire on each of the places,” he said.

According to the anonymous source, the number of  security agents killed at the checkpoint during the attack was not known although one of them who escaped the attack had called him on phone.

“I cannot tell how any soldiers died, but one of them spoke to me on phone, saying he escaped but did not comment on the number of casualties,” the source disclosed.
