10 Tips On How To Keep Your Relationship Strong When You Are Both Super Busy

Must read

Super busy people live super hectic lives and that can put a big strain on a relationship. When it seems that you rarely see your partner and, when you do see them, they or you are too busy to stop and talk, people can begin to grow apart. Making time for a relationship sounds easy in principal but, in practice, it’s not always as easy as it sounds, so here some tips on how to keep a relationship strong and cope with a busy lifestyle at the time.

1. Plan and value your quality time together

You are probably great at scheduling workloads and appointments, so why not schedule time in the diary for your relationship too. Plan dates in advance, put them in the diary and, just as you would with a work appointment, treat them as being immovable.

2. Have mini-dates

Having mini dates is another great tip on how to keep your relationship strong. Even if you don’t have time for a weekend away, you should be able to find ten minutes for a coffee. Grab moments together whenever you can, because even a mini-date is better than no date at all.

3. Do chores and tasks together

Share the chores and take the opportunity to talk, while you are working. If you’ve been apart all day, then it would be a waste for just one of you to be in the kitchen preparing the evening meal, when you could be doing it together. When you are both working at home, sit together; you don’t necessarily have to be in separate rooms to work efficiently.

4. Use the technology

Another tip on how to keep your relationship strong is to use the technology. When you are apart, especially for longer periods of time, don’t forget to text and to email. Just short messages will help you to stay connected and it’s so quick and easy to do.

5. But, don’t forget the phone!

Texts and emails are fine, but they are still a bit impersonal. Pick up the phone and talk, even if it’s only for five minutes. You can have a far more meaningful conversation and, it’s often quicker, than an exchange of confusing text messages anyway.

6. Leave notes for each other

Leaving little messages for each other is another good tip on how to keep your relationship strong. When schedules don’t coincide and one of you is leaving the house before the other, leave little notes, before you go out. It doesn’t need to be the length of a novel, just a quick ‘I love you, have a great day’, left on the bathroom mirror will let your partner know that you care.

7. Stay in tune with each other’s emotions

Don’t forget to tell each other how you are feeling. It’s easy to lose the emotional connection when you are busy and messages can become very brief and impersonal. Tell your partner how you are feeling, as well as the fact that you will be home late again, and don’t lose sight of the importance of providing emotional support for each other.

8. Don’t forget to celebrate important events

Wherever you are in the world and whatever you are doing, that’s no reason not to send flowers on an anniversary or a card for a birthday. Remembering the important dates and anniversaries becomes even more vital when you are apart, but in this age of the instant communication and with the ability to order things online, there really is no excuse for missing these dates altogether.

9. Know your partner’s schedule

Stay in touch with what each of you is doing. That way you know when your partner is at lunch and you can call them, you know if they are just about to go into a difficult meeting and you will be able to continue to provide the support that they need, even when you are apart.

10. Make the most of the time together that you do get

How to keep your relationship strong? Most of all, when you do get time together, don’t allow it to go to waste! Treasure those moments and do something really special together. Making an effort to make these moments as fantastic, as they can be will make the times apart that little more bearable.
