13-Year-Old Boko Haram Suicide Bomber Shot Dead At UNIMAID

Suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group have launched another attack on the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID.

A suicide bomber struck close to one of the hostels in the university around 7:50pm on Monday, February 19, 2018.

The insurgents have carried out a series of attacks on UNIMAID.

In January 2017, the sect struck in the university killing four people, including an infant and a professor.

Between then and now, the institution has recorded at least five attacks from Boko Haram.

Last year, Dani Mamman, chairman Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, UNIMAID chapter said at least 70 lecturers have resigned from the university since 2009 owing to the Boko Haram insurgency.

Boko Haram recently released three University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, lecturers abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Magumeri, Borno State.

A statement released by Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesperson, said that the department of State Services, DSS, briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the release, through negotiations, of three University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, lecturers abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Magumeri, Borno State.

Also released from the Boko Haram terrorists are 10 women, kidnapped in a raid by the militant group on a military/police convoy on Damboa road, near Maiduguri. Their release followed a series of negotiations as directed by President Buhari and was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC.
