18-Year-Old, 2 Others Nabbed For Kidnapping 4-Year-Old

The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Police Force have confirmed the arrest of an 18-year old, Fauziyya Bala and two others – Aliyu Tasiu and Bello Wada – for allegedly kidnapping a 4-year old in Tudin Wada Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Announcing the arrest of the trio, the Kano State commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris said the suspects had confessed to the crime, stating that they planned on using the N3 million ransom demanded to finance the establishment of a poultry farm.

Bala played the role leader of the gang and initiator of the scheme and received the child after the abduction.

Tasiu, who is a brother to the guardian of the victim reportedly distracted the grandmother of the infant, who was taking care of the child at the time of the kidnap while Wada snatched the kid.

Idris said: “The case was reported at Tudun Wada division, the two male suspects were part of those who accompanied the grandmother to the station to report the matter.

“The police promptly started investigation and successfully arrested the suspects and rescued the victim without any harm or injury.”

Tasiu, while confessing to the crime said: “The parents and grandmother of the boy we kidnapped can afford to pay us the N3million we requested, I am aware and sure the money is available.”
