2 Customs Officers Arrested For Allegedly Raping 23-Year-Old Girl They Met On Facebook

Two officers of the Nigerian Customs Service have been arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old girl they met on Facebook.

Felola Uzezi and Mohammed Sanni of the Seme Border Command have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, for further interrogation.

The victim recounting her experience said she met one of the officers, Uzezi, on Facebook and after an invitation by him she visited him in his house. While in his house, Uzezi and his friend abused her sexually.

She said: “I met Uzezi on Facebook and became friends with him. After a while, he invited me to his house. Uzezi invited Sanni over to his place when I came to visit him.

“Uzezi asked me for sex, but I told him that I was menstruating. When his friend Sanni came, they raped me.”

The victim reported the rape to the police who acted immediately.

As the police got to the crime scene, they allegedly found blood stains on Uzezi’s bed and on a boxer he gave the victim to clean up.

The national public relations officer of the Nigerian Customs Service, Mr. Wale Adeniyi confirmed the crime saying: “The Seme Command Comptroller has been notified and he is working with the police for a thorough investigation. We will await a formal report from the police to enable the Comptroller-General take appropriate action. While we await this, we must state that the Service frowns at such heinous crime and perpetrators if found guilty, will be dealt with.”

Ngozi Braide, the command spokesperson, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), confirming the arrest said that they did not meet on Facebook as the victim claimed, but rather they met at a location in the area.

The DSP said thorough investigations are ongoing.
