Nigerian acts shone at the 2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMA, held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Ticektpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Six Nigerian artistes took home awards at the event continental event, clinching the top awards for the day. Wizkid won best male act, and Yemi Alade won the best female act awards. Patoranking took home the song of the year award, while Tekno took the best new act award.
Wizkid also took the act of the year award.
Yemi Alade took a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari when she received her award saying, “women are not meant for the kitchen”.
