The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that it has not released the timetable for State, National Assembly, Governorship and Presidential primaries, as it is being reported in a section of the media.
Yekini Nabena, the party’s national publicity secretary, made this known in an e-mailed statement on Thursday, August 23, 2018, in Abuja while reacting to the development.
“The party is yet to announce its official timetable for the listed primaries,” the APC spokesman said.
Several reports claimed the ruling party had released its timetable for the primaries.
“APC PRIMARIES TO HOLD AS FOLLOWS: State House of Assembly Primaries -September 15, 2018, Federal House of Representatives – September 19, 2018, Senate- September 23, 2018, Governorship Primaries- September 28, 2018, Presidential Primaries- October 6, 2018” the Daily Times reported.
This rumour gained grounds because the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in January slated party primaries to begin August 18, 2018.
However, in its statement on Thursday by its acting publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, APC said it has not announced its timetable for primaries.
“Our attention has been drawn to a timetable circulating in the social media and published on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in Daily Times Newspaper, purportedly for the All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries for State House of Assembly, National Assembly, Governorship and Presidential positions.
“The timetable is fake and should be disregarded. The party is yet to announce its official timetable for the listed primaries.”
He described the timetable circulating in the social media and published in a particular newspaper as fake, saying that it should be disregarded by the general public.
