3 Arraigned For Stealing Legislative Mace In Enugu

Three people – Umuokeke Izunna Romeo, Okolo Olisa Solomon and Enekwechi Ray Onyimba – have been arraigned at a magistrate court for reportedly stealing the mace of the legislative council of the Awgu Local Government Area of the state in Enugu state and charged with  conspiracy, breaking and entry, malicious damage and unlawful possession.

Punch reports that police said the trio, together with several others still at large on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 broke into the offices of the legislative council, made away with the mace and destroyed several properties in the complex before fleeing the scene before the unlucky three were arrested at Agbogugu junction where the mace was retrieved from the vehicle transporting the suspects.

The suspects were ordered to be remanded in the Oji River prison, as their case was adjourned to Friday, November 7, 2014.

The Enugu State police command have pledged to increase efforts to ensure the other accomplices were arrested.
