NAN – The police command in Rivers on Monday, May 18, 2015 said it had arrested three suspected armed robbers after a gun battle in Port Harcourt.
This is contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers, DSP. Muhammad Ahmad, in Port Harcourt.
The statement said the three suspects had snatched a Toyota Camry car from one David Nwoka at gun point.
It said the incident took place on the East-West Road on May 17.
It quoted Ahmad as saying that Nwoka had made a distress call to the police who chased and engaged the gang in a shoot-out.
Ahmad said the police recovered the car, one locally-made Ak 47 rifle, 10 rounds of 7.62 ammunition, one pump action gun and 11 cartridges from the suspects.
The spokesman assured the public prompt response to distress calls.
