3,000 Ondo Youth Converge To Celebrate Governor Mimiko

No fewer than 3,000 young people across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State will converge at the International Events Center, The Dome in Akure on Monday, October, 3, 2016 for the maiden state congress of the Orange Youth Network, a youth movement in Ondo state.

The director-general of the group, Kayode Ajulo, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 said the congress is to inaugurate the state and local government executives of the organization and also to commemorate the 62nd Birthday of Ondo State, Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko (CON), on whose political ideology and philosophy the group was founded.

According to Ajulo, a human rights lawyer, “Orange Youth Network, a youth movement founded on the ideology and philosophy of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, is aimed at grooming young and emerging leaders to imbibe the culture of hard work, resilience, perseverance, humility, good governance, and modern politics which Mimiko epitomizes

“Former Governor of Old Ondo state, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua will chair the event, while the chief press secretary to the Ondo State Governor, Eni Akinsola, will deliver a lecture on the topic “The Man Mimiko.” Ajulo said.

A member Board of Trustees, Akin Akinbobola, also noted that the organization is aimed at sustaining the legacies of Governor Mimiko as a social democrat and to groom young leaders who can compete favourably in their endeavors without compromising the core values of its mentor.

Corroborating Akinbobola, Chairman Board of Trustees, Orange Youth Network, Tokunbo Modupe said captains of industries, top Nollywood artistes, music artistes and football stars within and outside the state have been invited to spice up the event and inspire the youths.

In attendance at the briefing were Hon Joseph Akinlaja, Member representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, Ondo state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Olasimi Odumbaku, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Appointments, Taye Afilaka, the state Publicity Secretary of Orange Youth Network, John-Paul Akinduro, and all state and local government executives of Orange Youth Network  among others.
