Terrible: 39-Year-Old Man Rapes 11-Year-Old Girl In Lagos

A 39-year old man identified as Dunstan Ukaga who claimed to be a freelance journalist with a magazine was on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, arraigned by the police who subsequently brought him before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Ebute-Metta, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

The court judge, Magistrate A. A. Demi-Ajayi charged Ukaga with one count-charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl which he pleaded not guilty to.

According to Vanguard reports, the prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent Etim Ekankum, told the court that the defendant raped the minor several times between April 24 and September 28, at his residence at Road 311, Block 2, flat 6, at Festac Town area of the state.

Ekankum said the offence was punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

However, Magistrate Demi-Ajayi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.Furthermore, the magistrate maintained that the two sureties must deposit N30,000 each to account of the court’s Chief Registrar, and present an evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State government which will be examined by the court.

She also ordered that Ekankum duplicate the case file and forward it to the director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice and scheduled the case for further hearing on November 26, 2014, after the DPP’s response.
