5 Igbo Traders Kidnapped in Cross River

It seems to be a lot hell of a period for Igbo businessmen staying in Cross River State as five of them has been kidnapped in the last couple of weeks.

Those kidnapped within the period include one Ifeanyi, and one Lazarus, both spare parts dealers and an electrical parts’ dealer and a contractor popularly known as “But Why”.

While Ifeanyi and Lazarus were kidnapped about two weeks ago, at their shops located at Victor Akan Street, Calabar South, “But Why” was allegedly whisked away from his shop on Monday, February 4, 2018.

According to several sources, the three kidnapped persons released after they paid a ransom of several millions of naira.

However, no sooner than the three were released that a popular dealer in spare parts of Japanese vehicles, Mr. Paulinus Obi, popularly known as “Matata”, and another businessman, Emmanuel Ozokwu, a contractor were abducted this week by the kidnappers.

The kidnapping of Matata and Ozokwu is causing panic, and confusion among members of the Igbo community in Calabar, and indeed the business community within the Bedwell Street, Target Streets, and Victor Akan Street, in Calabar South, and perhaps the entire state.
