6 Signs Your ‘Hang Out’ Is Actually A Date

Must read

Things can be difficult to figure out if you aren’t sure of the other persons intentions. How are you supposed to know if they want to hang out with you or go on a date with you? It’s okay for people of the opposite sex to hang out but some people have intentions of it being a non-date. Where do you go on a possible date where there is no pressure?

Having said that, if it goes horribly wrong consider that a non-date, but if there is a connection, it was a total date.

Here are some signs that your “hang out” is actually a date:

1. When he asks you out he uses the word ‘date’ or implies that he wants to take you out

Saying this implies he wants to show you a good time, cover costs and get to know you. He’s making an actual plan, not throwing something together last minute and putting effort into the evening.

2. He brings you a gift

Whether it’s flowers or some sort of gesture it’s a tell tale sign his intentions of the evening it’s a date.

3. He compliments you

If he’s complimenting you on your outfit, eyes, hair, etc. he finds you attractive and the night is more than a hang out.

4. Touching is another sign that it’s more than a hang out

Whether he’s touching your arm, takes your hand or small of the back, physical contact is a sign of attraction.

5. He pays the bill and refuses to take your money no matter how many times you offer to split

Most of the time when a guy pays the bill, it’s a date. Unless he’s your BFF guy friend and you take turns paying the bill, that’s a hang out.

6. He tries to prolong the date

If a guy wants to hang out longer after dinner, maybe go for a walk or head to a bar for a drink, it’s a good sign that he’s not ready to end the night and he’s into you.

On the other side of things, here are some signs that it’s NOT a date:

  • He used the term “hang out” and it’s a last minute decision. These quick get together’s usually are just hang outs or the “non-date”. Anything that requires no planning and is spontaneous is what friends do together.
  • He talks about the person he is currently dating.
  • He keeps his distance and doesn’t touch you at all.
  • He calls you ‘riend’, ‘buddy’ or ‘pal’. Good sign you’re in the friend-zone.
  • If he takes you to hang in a group that are singles and couples. This usually means you’re hanging out as friends.
  • Hug at the end of the night.

In the end, the best way to end all confusion is to be honest from the start. Ask whether or not you are on a date or if it is a date. This way you know where you stand with the person and you know if you should shave or not.
