Seven men suspected to be sea pirates were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Forwarding Operating Base (FOB) in Bonny, Rivers State.

Handing over the suspects to the Nigeria Police in Bonny, the Base Commanding Officer, Navy Captain Hassan Dogara, said the suspects were arrested while robbing the crew of a vessel, MT Annah.

Dogara said items recovered from the men included two AK 47 rifles, 90 rounds of ammunition, nine GSM phones and the sum of N5,800.

Receiving the suspects on behalf of the Nigeria Police, Inspector Nicholas Gbaralel of Bonny Police Station assured that the suspects would be brought to book and face the consequences of their nefarious operations.

Some of the suspected sea pirates, who spoke with journalists, however, denied committing the crime.

The suspects maintained that they were ship workers and knew nothing about the alleged crime.
