About eight men of the Borno State Command of the Nigerian Police force were killed on Monday, June 15, 2015 after a bomb attack in Damboa local government area.According to a security source who spoke to The Cable under the oath of anonymity, the attack occurred around 6:30 pm after the victims were heading for Maiduguri, the Borno State capital after they had gone to rectify some electrical faults with some staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Damboa.

The source said: “Our men and some officials of PHCN left Maiduguri this afternoon in a convoy of five cars.

“They went to rectify some electrical issues because our light supply comes from Gomer and it passes through Damboa.

“They were on their way back when they ran into bomb set by Boko Haram.

“I am sure they saw them when they were going and set the trap. I can’t tell of the PHCN people but eight of our officers were killed in that attack.”

The attack could not be independently confirmed as the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer was unable to be reached.
