We Will Win 2019 Elections – PDP Chairman Muazu Says

Must read

The just concluded general elections saw power change hands as the ruling party, PDP, was beaten on many fronts including the presidential seat which they have occupied for the last 16 years. It seems that the party is not letting defeat in the 2015 general polls take away their winning spirit as they vowed to bounce back in 2019.

The chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu, said that the party had accepted the results of the polls and he also commended President Jonathan for his response to the polls. Speaking to newsmen in the taraba state capital, Jalingo, on Friday, April 24, 2015, Muazu said that he was in Taraba to thank the governor, Danbaba Suntai and his deputy Abubakar Sani Danladi for their effort during the elections.

He described defecting politicians as “untrue democrats and insincere politicians” while accusing the APC of trying to make the nation a one party state.

He said the APC needed to learn to give room for credible opposition as opposed to suppressing the will of the people in its bid to rule everywhere because that would not augur well for the democratic experience of the people. He further said:  “APC is propagating negativity; they want to take everything, but we have resolved, as a party, to restructure and take over power in the next general elections. Whatever it takes, we have resolved to ensure that we forgive one another, resolve our differences and forge ahead, with efforts to winning elections come 2019. It is, however, very unfortunate that our supporters who are desperate to defect to APC have become confused because they have been rejected by the APC. I don’t know what would become of their fate, because they now have no roof; they are neither in PDP nor in APC,”

Concerning the credibility of the Taraba state governorship candidate,Darius Dickson Ishaku, he said that the candidate was too credible to lose the elections. He added “We are here to encourage our supporters to continue their loyalty and good work for our great party. Everybody knows that Taraba is for PDP and PDP is for Taraba. We have been in charge in Taraba for the past 16 years.”

He urged the APC to learn how to concede defeat when they lose while praise the “courage and magnanimity” of President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat to General Muhammadu Buhari.
