Amaechi’s Ministerial Screening Postponed, Here’s Why

Must read

The ministerial screening of former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi which was supposed to take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 was postponed to Thursday, October 15, 2015. This was due to the failure of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report on the petition filed against the former Rivers state governor.

Premium Times reports that the Integrity Group petitioning Amaechi is citing allegations of financial misappropriation against the former governor during his tenure at Rivers state.

The chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Mr Sam Anyanwu told the senate that the committee could not meet after Tuesday’s plenary due to the late adjournment and were therefore too tired to meet. He also assured members of the senate that the committee will meet on Wednesday to review and finalize their report on the former River state governor.

The postponement of the former Rivers state governor’s screening meant that only nine ministerial nominees were screened on Wednesday.
