Amina Zakari: ‘Buhari’s Niece Appointment By INEC Is Outrageous’ – Bode George

Must read

Olabode George, the former deputy national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday, January 3, 2019, described the appointment of Amina Zakari, niece to President Muhammadu Buhari, as Head, Presidential Election Collation Centre of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as morally wrong, revolting, repulsive and outrageous.

George said this in a statement made available to journalists in reaction to the appointment announced by the INEC, but quickly said he was sure Buhari did not know anything about the appointment and could have come probably from someone who was trying to curry some cheap favour.

“At the face of it, this is morally wrong, revolting, repulsive and outrageous,” he said, querying: “How can you make the niece of the president to head the collation centre where the president himself is a candidate?”

“It is an outright absurdity which belittles and diminishes us before the international community,” George declared.

The PDP chieftain, who is also the Atona of Oodua, said all eyes were focused on Nigeria as the country prepared to go for the general elections scheduled for February and March 2019, warning that the exercise must not only be free and fair but must equally demonstrate to the world Nigeria’s sense of equity and civilized judgement.

“Everyone is watching us. This election must not only be free and fair, but it must also demonstrate to the world our sense of equity and civilized judgement,” George said.
