Former Scottish Premier League goalkeeper Sean Murdoch managed to bring New York’s Times Square to a standstill, as he proposed to his girlfriend on Friday.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper, who previously played for Hibernian and Hamilton Academical, organised a flash mob with six dancers, in a bid to pop the question to girlfriend Charissa Ferguson.

In the video, Sean, who now trains with New York City FC, can be seen dancing to Bruno Mars’ song Marry You, before popping the question.

Happily, Sean received the right answer from Charissa, and told the Daily Record: ‘I’m delighted, I was just trying to think outside the box and had some ideas, so I reached out to Broadway Dance Centre and they came up with the dance.’

‘Charissa had absolutely no idea it was going to happen so it was absolutely perfect’.

‘I had a good idea she’d say yes but I was nervous. Once I started dancing I totally loved it’.

Diane King, who works for Broadway Dance Centre, said: ‘His girlfriend was really overwhelmed and so surprised. It was really fun and great to be part of someone’s life moment like that’.
