Military Extends Ban On Vehicular Movement In Borno

Must read

The Borno state restriction on vehicular movement earlier announced by the Nigerian military which was scheduled to end on Monday, October 06, 2014 has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, October 07, 2014.

Following the turbulence in Borno state caused by the a group of rebels known as Boko Haram who keep plotting and unleashing endless attacks on innocent people, the military had banned the movement of vehicles in the state. This was learnt to have been under the emergency rule for about a year and a half now.

The ban which commenced on Friday, October 03, 2014 was said to be a measure towards inhibiting the plot of the terrorists to attack the state as the Sallah festivity takes its peak.

However, a statement by military officials on Sunday, October 5, 2014, which was signed by the spokesman of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, Col. Sani Usman, revealed that the ban was extended till Tuesday, October 07, 2014.

Though there was no explanation given on the extension, it is however believed that the threat of the attack of the insurgents may still be very much alive.

The statement said, “Please be informed that the embargo on all vehicular movements in the 7th Division Area has been extended till 7am on Tuesday, October 7 , 2014.  Please disseminate.”

This extension of the ban will probably help ensure that the Sallah celebration goes hitch-free thereby frustrating the plans of the insurgents.
