Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Security Services, DSS, has disclosed that members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram have begun making plans to join the Nigerian Army.
In a statement signed by Mr. Tony Opuiyo, and e-mailed to The Trent on Sunday, September 4, 2016, the DSS said that two members of the terror group, described as specialist in the making of improvised bombs, have been arrested in Kano before they succeeded in joining the army.
“In response to the regrouping of Boko Haram elements in Kano State, the service in concert with the military, carried out coordinated operations in the state which led to the apprehension of two high profile members of the sect,” the statement said.
“They are Ibrahim Abubakar and Idris Audu. Audu is an IED specialist who was being groomed to penetrate security agencies in the country.
“Audu had already perfected plans to seek for recruitment into the next recruitment scheme of the Nigerian Army, before his arrest,” he said.
He also mentioned the arrest of one Samuel Asuquo made by the DSS on August 22, 2016.
Asuquo was described as a notorious kidnapper and was arrested at Nasarawa Bakoko village in Cross River State and reportedly planned the kidnap of three Australian workers
At Larfarge Cement Company, collecting a ransom of N150 million.
He also mentioned the arrest of three members of a notorious kidnap gang, Bamaiya Mustapha, Aminu Isa and Hassan Shehu.
The three men were said to have operated in Abuja and Kaduna and were arrested at Lafia, Nasarawa State.
