Rivers State Commissioner, Ibibia Walter Abducted By Unknown Gunmen

Information reaching The Trent confirms that the Rivers State Commissioner for Water Resources, Ibibia Walter has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on his way to Okrika for the re-run elections on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

Chief Walter is also the Rivers State Secretary for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

According to an eyewitness who spoke with our reporter, a gang of fierce-looking gunmen, some masked, surrounded the vehicle in which Walter was travelling and forcibly removed the commissioner from the car and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Phone calls to his phone have not been answered and there is no means of reaching him at the moment.

The re-run election are to fill 2 senatorial seats, 12 seats on the house of representatives, and 22 seats in the Rivers House of Assembly. Elections are taking place in 23 local government areas, 319 wards, and 4,442 polling units.
