BREAKING: Saraki Loses At Supreme Court, Code Of Conduct Trial To Continue

Must read

Senate President Bukola Saraki’s bid to stop his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has failed, as the nation’s highest court ruled Friday, February 5, 2016 that the Code of Conduct Tribunal was properly constituted to try him.

Reading out the judgment of the Supreme Court on Friday, Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen, held that the Danladi Umar-led CCT had jurisdiction in the matter and had the powers to try criminal matters and issue bench warrants against Saraki.

“I find no merit in the appeal, it is hereby dismissed,” the court ruled.

Saraki was docked late 2015 by the tribunal for alleged false declaration of assets when he was governor of Kwara State between 1999 to 2003.
