BREAKING: Supreme Court Affirms Election Of Kogi Governor Bello

Must read

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 affirmed the election of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

The seven-man panel headed by Justice Sylvester Ngwata affirmed the election after listening to the closing statements of all parities to the suit.

The reasons for the decision of the landmark case will be read on September 30.

Bello was facing a challenge from James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives, who was the running mate to the late Audu Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress flagbearer who died before the election results were announced last year.

Faleke prayed the court to declare him the rightful winner of the elections, which was concluded after a supplementary poll following an inconclusive result.

He was also being challenged by former Governor Idris Wada, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the November 2015 poll who came second in the elections.
