President Muhammadu Buhari government expenditure and wasteful lifestyle is being scrutinized, especially since Nigerians began to feel the pain of a deepening recession.

The president is coming under intense criticism after SaharaReporters, an online tabloid disclosed that Nigeria’s Aso Rock has two delegations – one is official led by the General Buhari, while the other is led by the first lady, Aisha Buhari – to the on-going United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

The president’s 86-person delegation to the UNGA include a 16-man presidential advance team, 14-presidential aides, 32-ministers and aides, and 24 officials of foreign affairs and other federal ministries and parastatals.

The president’s wife, Mrs. Buhari is also attending the UNGA with a 22-person delegation including wives of Nigerian governors. According to the tweet, the first lady’s delegation is “privately funded.

So in total, the Nigerian presidency has a delegation of 108-person delegation to the United Nations event.

When contacted, Femi Adesina, a presidential spokesperson said he did not immediately have the total figure of the president’s UNGA delegation.

Already, Mrs. Buhari is embroiled in scandal over an improper and obscene display of wealth, when a press release announcing her trip to New York included a handout photo that showed her wearing an N8.25 million (£50,000) Chopard wrist-watch.
